Rihanna's Style Blog

From short to long, black to blonde, Rihanna has rocked it all. She mixed up each look with bangs or braids, continuously giving us new hair inspiration. Her edgy hair matches her edgy style, no matter what cut or shade. We can’t decide which look we like on her best, but we know we love them all! Which one is your favorite?

Gaga Goes Gold

GAGA GOES GOLD
The singer was snapped leaving Moscow airport today with another new hair colour and it looks like she's getting into the festive spirit because she's updated her locks from auburn to gold. We can't quite tell if she's added metallic hair extensions or just got the spray paint out but it's official: Gaga has gone goldilocks

Summer Makeup Trends

Image for Summer Makeup Trends 1
Red Carpet Beauty

Red carpet makeup looks inspire us to head into the bathroom and try out the trends...on the menu this summer are classic cat-lined eye and red lip combos.

Image for Summer Makeup Trends 2
The Bronze Smoky Eye
Best paired with a popsicle-stained lip, this look is subtle, but formal — a rare dynamic for an evening makeup effect.Blending well is the key to any smoky eye and a bright pink or red stain on the lip will subtly enhance the drama of your gaze. When choosing colours be sure to think of your skin tone and choose browns and soft golds to suit your complexion.

 The Bold Brow
Image for Summer Makeup Trends 3A structured brow can bring a minimally made-up face from meh to formal. Start by plucking stray hairs carefully (see a professional for threading or waxing if you're unsure). Use a sharp pencil in a color two to three shades darker than your natural brow hue to define your brow, making it thicker and more angular than your natural arches. Set your brows with clear mascara or a brow gel.

Big Lashes

Get it, girl. Red carpet looks are all about bringing your eyelash
A-game. To create extra-lengthy lashes, first curl them with a lash curler, then dust a layer of translucent powder on your lashes for volume before applying two coats of  mascara. Look down and brush down for the first coat; look up and brush up for the second.

The Poppy Lip

Poppy is the perfect blend of pink, red and orange and packs a major color punch. It's a hue that complements nearly every skin tone, thanks to its mix of warm and cool undertones. Rocking a poppy lip solo gives a navy or black dress attitude.

For a little more oomph, tightline your eyeliner in a soft mahogany.

Image for Summer Makeup Trends 7The Punchy Pink Lip
A punchy pink lip is more wearable than red and looks great with a semi-dramatic eye to a minimal one. I like to wear a pink lip with a shimmery beige lid, some thick liner in a rich brown and softly blushed cheeks.

Peachy-Pink Cheeks
For more drama on your cheeks than a soap opera star, all you need is ELES COSMETIC MINERAL BLUSH in Lush FLIRT and a blush brush. Sweep on a few layers (I'd say three to be safe, as it's sheer) for the ultimate '80s-inspired bright flush.

Hair Colour Inspiration: Raspberry Red

Hair Color Inspiration: Raspberry Red

Image for Hair Colour Inspiration: Raspberry Red 1

Fruity and bright, this berry hue is a perfect choice for the when everything else is getting a bit cooler. Both vivid and organic, this shade strikes the perfect balance between natural and vibrant. Cool undertones make it suitable sun-deprived skin while bright tone has the luscious appeal of spring flowers. Getting this delicate shade can be tricky, so I’ve included my favorite formula for achieving the tone. For maximum reflection this color should be applied to previously uncolored hair that is the same level or lighter. If hair has been previously color, a cleanse should be performed to take the level slightly lighter than the target level 6, this will allow for maximum translucency and shine.
Hairdressing formulas below.

Image for Hair Colour Inspiration: Raspberry Red 2
For the hairdressers:
Technique:
Apply Formula A to roots and then immediately pull formula B through from mid-shaft to ends. Process for thirty minutes, rinse and shampoo thoroughly. Apply formula C from root to end, and process for 10-20 minutes, or until desired tone is achieved. Rinse, condition and style and desired.

Formulas:
A. Goldwell Topchic 1 part 7RO + 2 Parts 6R with 10 Volume
B. Goldwell Topchic 1 part 7RO + 1 Part 6RR with 20 Volume
C. Goldwell Colorance 6VV + Colorance Acid Lotion

Jennifer Lawrence Girl On Fire With New Pixie Crop

A Closer Look at the Jennifer Lawrence Pixie Cut

Image for Jennifer Lawrence Girl On Fire With New Pixie Crop 1

Jennifer Lawrence's pixie-cut is a variation to traditional cropped cuts tightly tapered nape through the back, and an asymmetrical, short to long feel through the top and sides. But it’s the piece-y separation of texture that gives this style the modern, perfectly imperfect balance. She’s such a looker, and the cut exposes features like strong, high cheekbones, wide mouth, and unique eyes, which is always a good way to approach your beauty look. So while we’ll miss the flowing tousled locks that gave Jennifer a wow-factor, we can’t deny that we are loving this crop with a boyish twist.

Step 1: For a similar shape to Jennifer ask for a tightly tapered, graduated nape with length left on top. Get your stylist to create an asymmetrical, short to long feel. Razor-cutting will enhance a loose, imperfect texture.

Step 2: Cocktail Kerastase Short Mania  and Kevin Murphy Undressed to get hold and volume with a messy undone finish. Work through damp hair from roots to ends and blast dry with a blow-dryer, using hands to create movement and texture in the hair.

Step 3: Finish with a light layer of Kerastase Powder Bluff to enhance volume and slept in grit.

Step 4: For more durability spray lightly with Kevin Murphy Session Spray.

Rihanna's Elegant Pony

Image for Rihanna's Elegant Pony 1
Rihanna looks gorgeous with her hair pulled back into an elegant side-part ponytail. The bangs frame her face beautifully, and her radiant complexion is on show. This is a great look for a myriad of occasions. Try this style for a night out, a day at the office, or even running errands. Click through for style notes on how to reproduce the look.
Step: Apply a thermal protectant and flat iron your hair section by section.
Step: Make a deep side part and use pomade to get high shine and holding power.
KEVIN.MURPHY EASY RIDER is great for the hold and mixed with a tiny bit of KEVIN.MURPHY YOUNG AGAIN to add the extra shine and gloss to the hair.
Step: Smooth out the hair with a comb and pull your hair into a pony tail. Secure with an elastic!

The Punk Movement Continues...

Image 8-18-13 at 11.59 AM
The popularity of DIY owes a lot to the early punk movement. While nowadays the term punk is applied to teens with mohawks and safety-pin embellished ensembles, the original movement created a new aesthetic that moved against mainstream ideas about fashion, spawning a look that defied style norms. Androgynous haircuts, chalking, tousled styling, and disconnection are great ways to integrate punk into your style.
Step: Asymmetric cuts have an imperfect, DIY quality that adds edge to any style. For the most dramatic version, play around with extreme length contrasts, like pairing long hair with micro bangs or super short sides with a long, mohawk-inspired top. Keep edges piecey for a lived-in feeling. The new hybrid pixie bob is a perfect example of a modern take on this look.
Step: High contrast blocks of color create a bold, gritty feeling. Ask your Lattouf colorist to create a placement that enhances your overall shape or embrace DIY and use hair chalk to create temporary color effects at home. Our fav is KEVIN.MURPHY COLOUR.BUG NEON
Image for The Punk Movement Continues... 2
Step: Use low sheen, texture enhancing products to get a grungy finish. KERASTASE POWDER BLUFF dry shampoo is great for holding high volume styles and creating a matte finish. KERASTASE SHORT MANIA will give detailed separation and mussed up appeal to short styles and the NEW KERASTASE LAQUE DENTELLE will give flexible hold and grit to gravity defying shape.

Bangs Are Back!

A striking yet sophisticated look
Image for Bangs Are Back! 1

It's official! Bangs are back and making a statement that we know only hair can do. This new trend can suit any style you carry. Whether is be straight, curly or wavy hair. A bold fringe such as the bang can be worn with loose hair or tied up like the beautiful Michele Lea has done. We love the way her bangs fall to eyelash level and bring out those cat shaped brown eyes. A style like this needs a trim every few weeks, but this look proves to be so worth the upkeep. To achieve such a bold fringe, ask your hair stylist to cut the fringe while your hair is dry. Doing this allows for you to be able to see how your hair falls when you'll need to do it alone at home. To keep your fringe looking fresh with a shine everyday, wash your fringe when you wash your hair each morning. This allows for you to have a bold looking bang everyday, without having to wash your hair.

Gwen Stefani For Opi

Are you ready for a Gwen Stefani nail polish collection?

Image for Gwen Stefani For Opi 1

If you answered yes (and why wouldn't you?), then you'll be excited to hear the singer has just inked a deal with OPI! And as with just about everything Gwen does, you can expect a punk twist to the collaboration, which was, incidentally, inspired by the 2016 Met Gala theme, "Punk: Chaos to Couture."
Launching in January, the limited-edition lineup will include the following Gwen-centric polishes: Hey Baby and I Sing in Colour, both glossy crèmes; Love.Angel.Music.Baby. and 4 in the Morning, both semimatte satins; Push and Shove, a bold chrome that comes with a complimentary base coat; and In True Stefani Fashion, a sparkly glitter. There will also be a special boxed set featuring Over & Over A-Gwen, a bold red lacquer that pays homage to Gwen's signature red lip, and Swarovski Elements, a nail art kit consisting of nail glue, black crystals, and metallic studs in bar, circle, square, and diamond shapes.

"OPI wanted to create a collection as dramatic, diverse, and glamorous as its namesake," said OPI's artistic director, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. "With crème and glitter hues, new satin matte texture, a mirrored chrome, and Swarovski Elements, Gwen Stefani by OPI presents the latest in pigments and finishes, while combining elements of haute couture and street fashion." We can't wait to get our hands on this one.

Anne Hathaway Goes Blonde

anne-hathaway-600x450
Last week we told you all about the Met’s Costume Institute exhibition, PUNK: From Chaos to Couture. Now, after last night’s big celebrity Gala, stars of stage and screen can be seen getting their punk on. Anne Hathaway got in the mood for an anti-establishment freedom fight with a tough-looking black Valentino vintage gown and bleached blonde locks. The flaxen hue offers a stark contrast to her complexion and brooding brown eye color –– a striking antithesis of her usual soft and pretty looks. Like Hathaway, going blonde can make you look and feel like an entirely new person; it is, however, a big commitment, so it’s important to know your options. For our professional advice on getting fair, golden locks, come into Lattouf for your free colour consultation.

Lady Gaga has been flauting her fuller figure after a whooping 15kg weight gain.
She appears to be choosing clothes that accentuate - rather than minimize - the increased body mass...

A complete turn around the the April twitter post "pop singers don't eat" which caused an outrage! Pop stars do eat, apparently.
